Water, shade, signal

Where the water is, whether there's any shade you don't bring yourself, and the cell truth. No festival publishes the cell truth.

Gate, entry, re-entry

When to arrive, which line moves, and whether you can leave and come back — the answer that decides your whole grocery plan.

Burn guides are free. Always. Decommodification is the culture, and we're not going to be the ones who sell it back.

How this edition is set

— set the way the scene sets things —

Paper: warm cream, the stock the Survival Guide is printed on. Never a gray-white, never pure black.
Inks: four spot colours and one black. Where two overlap they multiply, like a riso drum passing twice. There is no fifth ink and there are no gradients.
Type: Bevan for the wood-type plates, Rokkitt for entries — the same slab playaevents.burningman.org sets its listings in — Inter for reading, IBM Plex Mono for anything that is a record rather than a sentence, and one hand for the marginalia.
Rules: solid means confirmed. Dashed means we don't know yet. A line through it means it's gone, and it stays on the page anyway.
Corners: square, or fully round. Nothing in between — the 8-pixel corner is what a dashboard looks like.
What we didn't do: no grain filter, no distressed textures, no glitter, no confetti, no countdown, no "going fast", no stock crowd with its hands in the air.
