We show up for each other

Burn guides are free forever. Weather and road alerts are free during an active event, for everyone, member or not. You don't paywall a lightning warning and you don't sell somebody their own culture back to them.

Everyone gets in the door

The listings are free and always will be. A first-year event with forty people gets the same listing quality as one with a marketing department — and it's the small ones the fund exists for.

Every dollar has a name

Half of gross subscription revenue goes to the Extras Fund, and every grant is published with a name, an amount, a region and two dates the day it's decided. If we can't show you the transaction, we don't make the claim.

One shell, one flag per sound

Every genre carries its own two-colour flag. Same frame, swappable quadrants — so 241 events can each have an identity without the site turning into a paint box.

Survival guides, built event by event

What a veteran of that specific gathering knows: what to pack for that ground, where the water actually is, which gate to trust, what the nights do to the temperature.

Not a generic checklist — what's different about this one. The thing you'd regret not bringing here specifically.

Water, shade, signal

Where the water is, whether there's shade you don't bring yourself, and the cell truth. No festival publishes the cell truth.

When to arrive, which line moves, and whether you can leave and come back — the answer that decides your whole grocery plan.

Burn guides are free. Always. Decommodification is the culture and we're not going to be the ones who sell it back.

Where the money goes

The Extras Fund

Named after a rule from kandi trading: you make extras — more than you need — so you have something for the person who turned up with nothing. That rule is the business model, so it's the name.

Half of every subscription dollar. Gross, before costs.

Not "half of profits" — profit is a number anyone can define their way out of. Gross subscription revenue, before hosting, before labour, before tax. It's the only version of this promise you can hold us to, and it's the version Roskilde and 1% for the Planet use for the same reason.

Mar 1 2027first grant round opens

Who it's for. Small, regional, volunteer-run and first-year events — the ones a directory usually ignores because they're too small to matter commercially. Sanctioned regional burns are explicitly eligible.
What it can't buy. Not salaries, not artist fees, not marketing. Materials, safety infrastructure, accessibility and permits.
Ask for 40–60% of your budget. The fund is a co-funder, not a patron. An ask for 100% gets declined.
Paid 70% up front, 30% on completion, against receipts. You shouldn't have to float us.
Being funded never changes a listing. No badge, no boost in the sort order, no editorial favour. A grantee event that dies still gets marked dead.
Every grant is published the day it's decided — name, amount, region, date decided, date paid — not in an annual round-up.

The old ladder was built to maximise what we took. This one is built so the fund has something to give away and you can still afford to be in it. Listings stay free forever; no ads, no sponsored rows, no paid placement.
